Mills Racing looking to continue success at Utah Motorsports Campus

HOUSTON – Michael Mills and Kuno Wittmer, BMW of North-America racing driver, are looking to repeat success in the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX Series this weekend.

“I’m really looking forward to the race this weekend, at Utah Motorsports campus, as we carry our inaugural SprintX wins, into this event,” Wittmer said. “Our BMW Z4 GT3 should perform very well there, given the cars natural capabilities, with high speed cornering.”

The driver duo currently leads the points championship after a dominating performance at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park back in May.

“We are always hopeful to go out and win every race,” Mills said, “but the back to back wins at CTMP made us focus even harder on bringing home the championship for Mills Racing and BMW Motorsports.”

This will be the second race weekend for Mills and Wittmer to share the car. Driver pairings are based on FIA driver criteria. For example, FIA listed Bronze drivers can drive with other bronze drivers as well as Silver, Gold and Platinum, while Silver drivers can be matched with Bronze, Silver and Gold drivers. Gold drivers can pair with Bronze and Silver drivers, while Platinum drivers can only be paired with Bronze level drivers.

“I’m very pleased to be alongside my teammate, Michael and his team operations,” Wittmer said. “The boys are ready to take up the competition and keep pushing the points lead.”

SprintX races are set to take place at 2016 Pirelli World Challenge headliner events, with Rounds 3 and 4 scheduled for this upcoming weekend. There will be a total of six rounds throughout the season, two per weekend with the finale scheduled for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in October.

The two 60 minute races will feature mandatory driver and tire changes. Follow along live online at world-challenge.com. A schedule for the weekend can be found below. The race will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network on August 25.
